The ingredients needed to make Curd rice:
  1. Get 1 cup rice
  2. Prepare 2 cups thick curd (adjust as needed)

Curd rice, also called Thayir Sadam, is a dish from south India. It is considered a comfort food by many. Curd rice is usually served at the end of the meal to combat the spiciness of the dinner. Simple Curd Rice can be prepared with steamed rice and plain curd or with additional tempering of urad dal, mustard seeds, chillies, coriander leaves and steamed rice.

Steps to make Curd rice:
  1. Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes.
  2. Add 2 & ½ cups water, and salt to the rice and soft cook it in a cooker.
  3. Fluff up the rice or mash lightly to suit your liking. Cool it completely.
  4. Add beaten curd to cooled rice. Mix well until combined. - Add milk as well and stir.
  5. Heat oil in a pan for tempering. - - Add cumin and mustard.
  6. When they begin to splutter, add dal and fry until golden. - - Add ginger, chilli and curry leaves.
  7. When the curry leaves turn crisp, add heeng and turn off the stove.
  8. Add coriander leaves and cucumbers to the yogurt rice. - - Pour the seasoning and mix.
  9. Add pomegranate seeds South Indian style curd rice is ready.

Cool the rice then add curds and mix well. Pour the seasoning onto the rice and curd mixture.
